Description
What a wonderful find. A rare LARGE and IMPRESSIVE machine. Extraordinary elegance of a bygone age. GUARANTEED Authentic circa 1920 German Jost fan. A superb example of stirling engine's functional use. The secret to the fan's operation is a Stirling hot air engine powered by a common lamp burner. The operation of the Stirling engine is not complicated. There is no carburetor, ignition systems, valves, or other complicated mechanisms. Stirling engines run off of the EXPANSION of air as it is heated, and the contraction of the same air as it is cooled. About this fan: Invented and made in Germany by Hubertus Friedrich Raab (1853-1922). Carl Jost was the company who sold the Raab fans from 1903-1920's. Jost patented the ventilating fan in 1905. Made of cast iron, steel, brass, wood. Condition: Brass cage, oil lamp burner and hollw pipe fixed above burner , are not original.I am not sure about fan fan blade wheather it is original or replaced. The hollow pipe has small window with mica fitted to see flame of burner. I have started the engine and it works very smoothly and fan fan throws cool air Shipping :- Buyer pays by $275 ,handling & packing $25.
