Tested and guaranteed to be bakelite. The box is included...probably not the original box. The top portion of the handle is cream corn/butterscotch. The bottom portion of the handle is a transparent (clear) cherry red. The red area has retained its original clarity...it is CLEAR, not cloudy. The bakelite is in SUPERB condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or burn marks. The metal is STAINLESS STEEL, so there is no rust/pitting...a very nice set..HARD TO FIND IN THIS CONDITON!!
